Last week the annual conference of INHOPE \u2013 the association joining\u00a0Hotlines of different countries \u2013 took place in Amsterdam, where the work of the Estonian Hotline www.vihjeliin.ee<\/a>\u00a0in blocking the spreading of materials containing sexual abuse of children was also acknowledged and Estonia\u2019s full membership in the international network was confirmed.<\/p>\n

The web-based Hotline managed by NPO Estonian Union for Child Welfare enables to report websites with contents not suitable for children or illegal. First and foremost the Hotline is meant for reporting Internet pages presenting sexual abuse of children.<\/p>\n

According to the project manager Malle Hallim\u00e4e, Hotline has received 1685 reports since its beginning in January 2011, from which 199 have contained references to web-environments presenting materials depicting sexual abuse of children. In handling materials of illegal contents, Hotline cooperates with Estonian Police and Border Guard Board. The association INHOPE www.inhope.org<\/a> joining Hotlines of different countries was created in 1999 and currently unites 43 Hotlines from 37 countries across the world. The aim of the association is to support and improve the cooperation of Hotlines around the world in blocking the spreading of materials depicting sexual abuse of children on the Internet.<\/p>\n

The work of Estonian Hotline is a part of the project \u201eTargalt Internetis\u201c (www.targaltinternetis.ee<\/a>), realized by NPO Estonian Union for Child Welfare, Tiger Leap Foundation, Child Helpline 116\u00a0111 and Estonian Police and Border Guard Board.
